The international expedition in Krubera cave had been canceled because of the helicopter crash. The helicopter fell down to the snow slope from a 20m height when landing. The cavers and flyers are alive with some bodity injuries. (picture story) (press)

16.02 Pavlov E.A. The Gorlo Barloga cave exploration (Karachai-Circassian Republic, North Caucasus, Zagedan Mountains)
The cave has a depth 900m and a length 3 000m. The cave is the deepest in Russia. It is located at 2 825m altitude. There are two sumps at 839 and 900m depth, two main branches, narrow passages. The cave was sought in 1994 and explored mainly by the cavers from Rostov-on-Don, Circassk, Moscow, Donetsk, Obninsk. (photo)

  Shelepin A.L. The Kanyon-Samohvat expedition. Air flow and temperature regime (Abkhazian Republic, Bzybsky range).
The Kanyon-Samohvat system is supposed to be a low entrance in the famous Snezhnaya (Snow) cave. A current of the air is out/in of the cave in summer/winter in the main passages. There is more complex situation with air flow in side branches. Series of temperature measurements were made. They do not contradict the possibility of the connection between the system and Snow cave. The progress along the passage was made. Unfortunately the cavers were robbed by four gangsters with submachine guns on going out of the cave. (photo)

Goluboe (Blue) Lake is the deepest (after Fontaine de Vaucluse) cave spring in Europe. Its depth is 258m. It is located under Sara-Tala mountain massif. A water temperature is about 9 C. In Sep. 2004 Galaida I. and Prokhorov P. dived at 180m depth in the lake. They dived down along the wall to the beginning of steep slope. Mix gases were used. All dive lasted 259 minutes (free fall – 12 minutes). Movie and slides. (photo)

The connection Shkol’naja cave with the Zabludshikh-Rucheinaja cave system were made. The cavers saw that the bottom siphon in Shkol’naja cave had got an air bell. They go through the opened sump without diving gear. There was the connection with the system beyond the sump.
